The Dutch market is one of the most attractive spots for law firms that want to expand their presence in Europe. Let's talk about the expansion in this country by Simmons & Simmons

The UK firm, with considerable international expansion, has recruited three new partners for the Amsterdam office from other prestigious law firms, reflecting a clear interest by the firm to establish itself in this particular market.

David Shearer, Robert Jean Kloprogge and Ivo Van Dijk are the new figures who will strengthen Simmons & Simmons' presence in this European nation. 

Amsterdam office head René van Eldonk welcomed them as a "hugely significant step in achieving" the ambitious growth plan for the region. "This wave of recent hires demonstrates our continued commitment to growing our offering to clients across Europe," says van Eldonk.

David Shearer joins the firm from Dentons Amsterdam, where he was a partner in the firm's corporate and M&A practice. He has a broad range of corporate matters, with a particular focus on cross-border M&A, joint ventures and project development and financing. David has extensive experience in various sectors, including oil and gas, renewable energy, natural resources and infrastructure. 

Robert Jean Kloprogge joins Simmons & Simmons from AKD Amsterdam and previously spent three years in New York with Stibbe. Robert Jean regularly advises asset managers, investment funds and financial institutions on fund formation, M&A transactions, restructurings, equity and debt issuances, banking and finance transactions and structured finance transactions. He also acts on behalf of these parties in tax investigations and litigation. 

Ivo van Dijk joins the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Amsterdam, where he worked in the firm's finance practice, focusing on banking and structured finance products. His experience covers a range of matters from general corporate financings to leveraged buyouts and real estate transactions. At Simmons he will continue to work for large financial institutions (international and domestic).
