Jones Day advises a French company to introduce to the German Hydrogen sector

Jones Day represented Électricité de France SA (EDF) through its affiliates, Hynamics SA and EDF Deutschland, in its inaugural and groundbreaking investment in Germany’s hydrogen sector. EDF has formed a joint venture to construct a 30MW hydrogen electrolysis plant from renewable sources (green hydrogen), which is the pilot phase of the 700MW capacity cross-sector project, most likely to be powered by offshore wind. EDF and its joint venture partners; EDF, Ørsted Wind Power Germany GmbH and Raffinerie Heide GmbH, are part of a wider consortium that includes Thyssenkrupp, Holcim and OGE, among others.

The joint venture is part of the energy transformation initiative by the German government known as "Reallabor Westküste 100", one of 20 “Reallabors” (real world laboratories) to research and develop new sustainable energy solutions, supported and subsidized by the German Ministry for Economy and Energy (BMWi).

The Jones Day team was led by lawyers My Linh X. Vu-Grégoire (M&A – Frankfurt/Paris) and Christian A. Krebs (M&A – Frankfurt).
