How do large firms move into the recruitment market?

Law firms are trying to come out stronger despite the difficulties the pandemic has presented them with in recent months.

In this regard, it has been noted that large firms continue promoting and signing talent within the legal sector

Thus, we will now summarise the activity of three relevant firms in terms of promotions and signings:

Baker McKenzie

At the Baker McKenzie firm they announced the promotion of 84 of their lawyers to the rank of partner with effect from 1st July. The areas that have been most affected in this regard have been tax, dispute resolution and M&A.

On the other hand, Baker McKenzie has opted for hiring lawyers from other firms, so that 68 have been hired for the position of partner, demonstrating the firm's willingness to invest in talent. Therefore, 152 new partners have been announced by Baker McKenzie.

Milton Cheng, Global Chair of Baker McKenzie, said:

"Congratulations to all of our new partners. Welcoming 152 new partners, both home-grown and lateral, over the last 12 months is a clear sign of the importance we place in the long-term growth strategy of the Firm. I wish them all the best in their future career with Baker McKenzie."

Morgan Lewis

In the case of Morgan Lewis, they have announced the incorporation of two lawyers of recognised prestige within the legal sector. Thus, the firm announced earlier this month the incorporation of Sandra Moser, former head of the US Department of Justice in the fraud section, and Robin Nunn, a lawyer from a financial services company, to be partners in Morgan Lewis' Washington office.

"We are thrilled to welcome two highly sophisticated women litigators in our DC office," said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. "Talented, diverse perspectives are even more imperative now for our clients and Morgan Lewis as an institution, and Sandra and Robin each bring an esteemed voice and seasoned skillset.

Kirkland & Ellis

The American firm has announced from its website the promotion of 141 of its lawyers to the position of a partner from the 1st of October 2019 until today.
