DLA Piper is committed to creating a new position: Managing Director, Sustainability & Resilience

The international law firm has appointed JP Douglas-Henry to this new and innovative position. Douglas-Henry was, for a number of years, the firm's International Group Head of Litigation & Regulatory, as well as the co-chair of the firm's Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practice. 

From now on, Douglas-Henry will be responsible for coordinating the firm's strategies and actions on sustainability and environmental impact, as well as responsible economics and pro bono services, all of which are the result of the firm's commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Douglas-Henry has an ideal profile for this new position, with a proven track record in the legal sector: more than 25 years of experience advising clients on litigation, arbitration, regulatory and compliance matters. In addition, he has experience working with different international jurisdictions.

This new appointment is supported by the firm's co-CEO, Simon Levine, who explained:

"JP has led the International Litigation & Regulatory Group exceptionally well since May 2017 and has demonstrated an energy, commitment and true passion for helping our clients succeed."

In turn, Levine highlights the firm's challenges and the importance that sustainability and ESG harbour for the future:

More than 30 countries have declared a state of climate emergency, including jurisdictions such as the UK, Sweden, Denmark, New Zealand and Sweden, among others. DLA Piper is also a party concerned about climate change and committed to reducing actions that affect environmental quality.

In addition, Paul Hopman, former DLA Piper Netherlands Managing Partner, will replace Douglas-Henry's former role as International Group Head of Litigation & Regulatory.
