A large percentage of offices are becoming co-working spaces for lawyers

Is this beneficial for law firms? 

According to a study by Global Workplace Analytics, employees in the most modern firms spend almost half of their time working in an office and the other half at home. What many refer to as "desk hoteling" is here to stay. 

The question now arises: is desk hoteling profitable?

- Optimisation and office management

Through the implementation of the hybrid working model, many firms are saving on office maintenance costs (either reduced electricity or water usage, or reduced furniture and space).

Offices are being set up in open spaces, where mainly lawyers meet and have formal and informal conversations. 

- Equal access to all resources

When firms used to maintain a full face-to-face office model, many rooms were occupied or certain tools, or spaces, could not be accessible to all employees.

Hybrid working makes access to spaces easier and can be controlled in a more organised and secure way. Resources are the same for everyone and can probably be accessed from the Internet.

- Increased productivity

Desk hoteling saves time when scheduling meetings between employees or with clients. When the time for logistics is reduced, the time is spent on professional tasks, so lawyers have more time to work. 

You no longer have to wait for a free room to meet with your teammates. You can meet directly from a call. 

- Flexibility

Every lawyer is different and everyone does better in different environments. Some people enjoy working in open spaces surrounded by other colleagues, while others prefer to work in individual rooms where there is less noise. 

One of the clear benefits of desk hoteling is to ensure the best working environment for each employee. 

The important thing is to find the right environment for each lawyer.
